The people saying that have no idea what they're talking about, so just ignore them. As long as you can graduate from high school or get a GED, you can go to college.
Why would people be saying that to you? Are they sensitive because they didn't go to college/don't think they're smart enough to go to college?
As far as being a college baseball player, I would think that's achievable. Even if you don't make the school's main team and/or get a scholarship to play baseball, you can still play on an intramural team.
