Can you give me advice on how to be a better 2nd baseman/overall ball player???

i mostly play 2nd and sometimes i have a hard time fielding some ground balls and then knowing where to throw it. i use a 13 inch softball glove and i play baseball,is that a problem?and any comments or pep talks towards me playing baseball with the guys?

also would it be a bad idea to wear glasses during practice/games?Can you give me advice on how to be a better 2nd baseman/overall ball player???
I played 2nd base my whole life. The key is to make sure that the glove is not too large because you need to be able to get the ball out quickly to turn dp's, etc. The one you have should be fine. Definitely don't want an outfielder's glove. As far as fielding, the absolute key is to be sure that your glove is touching the dirt when going to field a ground ball. It's a lot easier to come up on a ball that skips or takes a bad hop than it is to come down on one after you set to field it. A good pre-game warm up, and a number of major league 2nd basemen do this, is to take infield tosses from the shortstop side of 2nd base. This really loosens your arm up and makes the throws to 2nd during the game seem easier. Don't let the guys intimidate you. Just work hard on your game and show them that you can do it. As far as glasses go, if you have to wear them for vision correction, I'd recommend sports goggles as they won't fall off your head during the game, etc. Good luck to you!!!Can you give me advice on how to be a better 2nd baseman/overall ball player???
it depends on what ur problem is?

i know the first thing that you have to do is stay down on the ball, and then u come up from the ground

with the fact of not knowing where to throw it thats just learning baseball

many infielders use 12 inch or smaller but a 13 inch doesnt make that much of a difference
I play 2nd baseman a lot. My tips are get a baseball glove because that would really help. Others tips are to play catch on the ball field that your teams playing on next. It would get you a feel for the field. If you go to a batting cage you can practice batting at different speeds. When playing catch you need to work on grounders, pop flies, tough catches. You can also work on hard hits by throwing the baseball really hard. You can also work on turning to throw to 1st base and lobbing it to 1st and 2nd base. Also it's o.k. to wear glasses. If your comfortable using contacts you can use them. Those are my tips. I hope they help.
1.quit

2.not at all if they're hard core dark sunglasses then you'll be the best player ever
you need a baseball glove not a softball glove. as for where to throw the ball, you need to know what you are going to do with the ball BEFORE it is hit to you. Make mental notes to yourself before the pitch. Don't second guess yourself during the play, just do what you planned on doing.

Most important thing in baseball is hitting the ball. If you can hit the ball, the coach will find a place for you to play.

As for glasses, if you need them to see - you need them.
2nd base:

Always be thinking where the ball will go. What I do as I am a 2nd basemen is play 5-10 feet back, more reaction time.

Sunglasses:

Try to avoid them, if you can't help it, you can, you will be able to see better without them.
