Ok so I am an epee fencer, i dont mean to sound like i am bragging but i am not bad. I have been fencing two years for the past year i have been very serious with it. I want to be on the cadet national team. I am fourteen and my birthday is in march. I run 2-3 miles everyday (plan on going farther), i do about 30 push-ups every night (add one each night), jump rope, do heavy bouting twice a week, light bouting on tuesdays, have a private lesson on wednesday and do extra work out ( i also workout every time i am there). My workout includes: 40 squat jumps (add one each day), jumps forward and backward in en-garde position (3 sets of 1 minute with 30 seconds in between) 100 lunges (add 10 each week), blade work and footwork. I occasionly go to a saturday footwork/bladework class. I also attend as many tournaments as I can. What more can i do?Want to be on the national team, need advice.?
ok sorry because i know nothing about fencing but ill give you a tip dat ive learnt: train the movement not the muscle, in other words, specificity.
yeh these exercises are good, but ur a fencer so remember to do sprints or speed work so u can go in for the strikes. when you workout, train the movement so like shoulder presses or dumbell curls that replicate that movement u make when you strike with ur ';sword'; (sorry lol). and what it take? My motto i learnt called the 3 D's : determination, discipline and most important Desire.
goodluck man.
